Save Weekley Hall Wood
We are a community action group formed to protect Weekley Hall Wood and wildflower meadow from developers plans to build warehousing on a beloved Kettering woodland area. We are made up of concerned local organisations and passionate individuals opposed to the destruction of our countryside and the last remaining accessible natural area around Kettering. We aim to represent the thousands of people opposed to this development.

EDIT – Objections date has now passed for this application
A NEW planning application has gone to the council to build a warehouse on the area of land previously cleared of biodiversity.
We have discovered that the land was only permitted to be CLEARED before and no planning permission given to BUILD on it.
The clearance was submitted and approved in 2017 and the work was carried out, however as part of this development KBC, Buccleuch Estates and Buccleuch Property made a legally binding agreement (known as a Section 106 agreement) to create a mitigation plan for replacing the loss of habitat. This was to include 185m of species-rich new hedgerow and 1.87 hectares of new species-rich grassland.
As far as we are aware this mitigation plan has never been produced. No hedgerow and no grassland has been planted.
As the developers look to proceed with this latest application to build the proposed warehouse we must object, and our objections must be in by the 26th June which is the deadline set by the planning department. If you wish to object you can do so by clicking here and clicking “Comment on this application”
We have created a google doc containing some pointers on what to object on –https://bit.ly/saveourwoodwarehouse
We must continue to watch these plans very closely and scrutinise what agreements are being made or we will look on as our green spaces disappear.
